vidoes * related to fashion history

I found some vidoes on youtube related to fashion history.
They are the commercial movies of VS (a famous hair shampoo producer).
In the CM, Namie Amuro (a famous Japanese singer) has 4 styles,
in 60s, 70s and 80s, together with a style of show girl.

60s: http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=dJZSwsn2u7Q&feature=related

70s: http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=WsSJDCW5SXM&feature=related

80s: http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=IfIkRYO3su8&feature=related

show girl: http://hk.youtube.com/watch?v=wjHTkY26PIg&feature=related

Namie Amuro is so pretty and looks gorgeous! :D

In the CM related to 60s, clothes are in artificial colours.
Then in the CM related to 70s, clothes are in psychedelic pattern with shimmering.
While in 80s, clothes changed to rock and become "modern style".
The one "show girl" is back to the old opera style.
These CM are so nice and well produced!

classworks * colouring boutique

I have chosen colours in analogous scheme with harmonious feeling.
Orange brown and black were chosen as I saw there is a fur carpet.
Brown, yellowish brown and gold were chosen as I wanna bring a gorgeous feeling to the customers.
The colour palette consists brownish and yellowish colours, which constructed a understanding of selling leather products.
In the psychological aspect, warm colours in medium value represented dignity.
This can encourage customers to spend as they feel superior.

classworks * colouring collection

I tried to use colours in analogous scheme to fill in the collection.
Pastel colours are used at the beginning but the collection looks pale.
I put pink and black in the second time and the collection looks vivid.
however... the skin colour of the model is black...
i made the collection BLACK BLACK BLACK!!!!!!

Colour wheel * Useful software and website

During lesson, name of colour groups/ colour combinations was mentioned.
However it is quite difficult to understand, so I do so research on colour wheel.

The below link is a nice colour wheel but withour pantone number :s
http://www.ficml.org/jemimap/style/color/wheel.html

This is the software that I found called "color wheel pro"
It is a very very very very nice software!
It gives samples of colour combination and I can learn from it
Unfortunately it is a trial version ;(

Some examples of colour scheme:

Colour Wheel

Analogous
(2 similar colours, in the colour wheel, they are next to each other)

classwork * mood board

During lecture,
Robert introduced mood board to us.
I back home and tried one.
Hope the format is appropriate.

My theme colour is pink :)

When I think of pink,
what comes to my mind are
baby, pig, cake, strawberry and rose.
After research for more pictures,
I found there are pink car, pink bird, pink furniture...
Pink gives me a soft and gentle feeling,
while shocking pink gives me energetic feeling.
It is so nice! :)

Here is the colour palette.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2003 RTW* Details

Marc Jacobs kept on his colourful style in this season and giving audience crashes with high satuation colours.

The inspiration of this collection is punk rock, with overt references to the sixties space-age. The colours, orange, blue, beige, white, pink, violet, and red really give people a strong visual splashing effect. Orange, blue and white is a non-original combination conducts a space-age feeling and makes people imagine a space shuttle which made of artifical materials. Moreover, the smash of colours is even more serious to highlight the theme of punk rock.

Comparing to the S/s2003 collection, the values of colours are relatively higher to give a warm and solid feeling to wearers.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2003 RTW

NEW YORK, February 10, 2003
By Janet Ozzard
The Marc Jacobs collection is a high point of the show calendar, and not just because the designer's front row is always packed with celebrities (this time: P. Diddy, Liv Tyler, Kristin Davis, Claire Danes, and regulars like Michelle Hicks, Anna Sui, and Helena Christensen). Jacobs has firmly established himself as fashion's bellwether, with an audience that looks to him to pluck out the prevailing trends and decree them relevant.

This season, Jacobs is clearly feeling very mod. His show, set to churning punk rock (X-Ray Spex's "Oh Bondage" kicked off the soundtrack), was a color-splashed paean to pop, with overt references to the sixties space-age designs of Courrèges, Paco Rabanne, and Rudi Gernreich. Minidresses and jumpers in various patchwork combinations of orange, blue, beige, white, pink, violet, and red came dashing down the runway, detailed with felted seams and circle pockets and worn with contrasting hose and sweet little pumps. His silver fur-trimmed parka and boxy wool jackets are destined to displace the peacoat as next season's must-have outerwear.

Even the evening looks kept the beat. Jacobs showed black and white satin minis with piped seams, as well as a few literally swinging dresses featuring ropes of giant sequins or slashed fabric sewn into a drooping bell. It was cheerful and chock-full of energy and color; but all the literal references to past fashions verged on re-creation, rather than the renewal for which Jacobs is justly famous.
